This list below looks into the 5 highest paid players in NPFL

1. Theophilus Afelokhai (1.2million naira)


After signing for Rivers United from The people's elephant, Enyimba for a record sum of 4 million naira. Theophilus Afelokhai became the highest paid player in Nigeria professional League. The transfer saw him earn #1.2 million per month.

This made him dethrone Godwin Obaje of FC Ifeanyi Uba  who was the league highest earner then at a monthly salary of #1 million. 

Afelokhai spend five years with the people's elephant having joined the Aba based club from Kano Pillars in December 2015 transfer window. The 32-year old Afelokhia has won the NPFL with both kano pillars and Enyimba FC.

2. Godwin Obaje (1 Million Naira)


Godwin Obaje who plays as a striker for FC Ifeanyi Uba is the second highest paid player in the Nigeria League with  a monthly salary of One million naira (#1 Million). He is also one of the top scorers in the league.

He suffered a setback recently while trying to secure a transfer abroad but has decided to stay in Nigeria for now till better days come.

3.Gambo Mohammed (#850,000)



Gambo plays for Kano Pillars FC and Nigeria National Football Team. He has been doing so well at club level but has failed to establish himself at the National team level. Playing at this high level has contributed to the rise in his salary.

Mohammed earns the sum of eight hundred and fifty thousand naira (#850,000) in a month, He is a center back.

4. Namso Edo (#700,000)


Namso plays for Akwa United as a defender. He is one of the reliable defenders in  the Nigeria National Professional League. Namso is also one of the few players in NNFL who graduated from the university.

As  a very formidable defender, Namso earns seven hundred thousand naira (#700,000) monthly.

5. Ikechukwu Ezenwa (#600,000)



Ikechukwu Ezenwa is the No.1 goalkeeper for FC Ifeanyi Uba. He has also been in goal for the Supper Eagles of Nigeria. Ezenwa having played professional football for over 10 years is the only goalkeeper to make the list of highest paid players in Nigeria league 2021.

He earns six hundred thousand Naira (#600,000) per month

Another player who earns big in the NNFL is Anthony Okpotu. Okpotu plays for Lobi Stars as a striker, he is one of the highest scorers in the league. He earns four hundred thousand naira (400,000) per month.

These players on this list are players that have proven themselves, have shown quality and are reliable in their respective clubs with a lot of experience because they have been in the league for a long period of time.
