But as the country develops, more Institutions of higher learning were established including Colleges/schools of health. What Is College/School of Health Technology?

School of Health Technology is an Institution of higher learning that is charged with the responsibility of training healthcare providers, to meet up with ever changing healthcare needs of both the individual and the community with the aim of attaining and maintaining a level of heath  that is useful and productive to the entire society. 

Sometimes Schools of Hygiene are used to mean Colleges of Health. Generally, the have a common goal which is to train healthcare provider to meet up with the manpower challenges witnessed in the health sector of the community.

Colleges of Health  Technology award both Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificates in various Courses. 

OND certificate is awarded after the completion of a two year program while that of HND is awarded following a two year program after the completion of the Ordinary National Diploma and one year Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

Some the courses offered by Colleges of Health Technology includes,  Environmental Health Technology (EHO), Environmental Health Technician (EHT), Community Health Extension Workers (CHEW), Junior  Community Health Extension Worker s(JCHEW), Health Information Managemen t(HIM), Medical Laboratory Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Dental Health,  Human Nutrition, and Health Education and Promotion, just to mention but a few.
